At least three suspected members of the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO) were arrested in northwest Turkey when they were attempting to cross into Greece, security sources said on Wednesday.
Gendarmerie forces in Edirne province stopped a vehicle in Meric district and arrested three suspects, who were wanted by Turkish authorities for being member of the FETO and for using the terror group’s encrypted messaging program ByLock.
The driver was also arrested over human trafficking, said the sources, who asked not to be named due to restrictions on talking to the media.
A total of 127 FETO suspects, who were trying to cross into Greece or Bulgaria, have been arrested since the beginning of this year in Edirne.
Turkish authorities in Edirne also arrested 16 PKK suspects, two Daesh suspects, and a suspected member of a far-left terrorist group since the beginning of 2018, according to the sources.
FETO and its U.S.-based leader Fetullah Gulen orchestrated the defeated coup of July 15, 2016, which left 251 people martyred and nearly 2,200 injured.
Ankara also accuses FETO of being behind a long-running campaign to overthrow the state through the infiltration of Turkish institutions, particularly the military, police, and judiciary.
