Explosives, chemicals found in operations at 20 locations, according to security source
ISTANBUL
Six people were arrested in Turkey for suspected links to far-left DHKP-C terror group, a security source said on Saturday.
Intelligence and anti-terrorism teams conducted simultaneous air-backed operations at 20 locations in Istanbul on Friday, according to the source, requesting anonymity due to restrictions on speaking to the media.
Improvised explosives, 1,450 kilograms of various chemicals, fireworks, four walkie-talkies, and two banners were seized in the operations.
The DHKP-C is responsible for a number of terror attacks in Turkey, including a 2013 attack on the US Embassy in Ankara, in which a Turkish security guard was martyred.
The group is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US, and the EU.
