
ANKARA
Turkey has been included in the tentative list of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organizations's (UNESCO) World Heritage Center with 38 sites.
The Culture and Tourism Ministry has asked the center to add 12 more cultural heritage sites to the tentative list, and the UNESCO World Heritage Committee accepted the application.
Thus, the number of Turkish sites in the tentative list rose to 38 from 26.
Below are the cultural heritages added to the tentative list:
-Yesemek Quarry and Sculpture Workshop (Gaziantep)
-Archeological Site of Zeugma (Gaziantep)
-Aizanoi Antique City (Kutahya)
-Gordion (Ankara)
-Haci Bektas Veli Complex (Nevsehir)
-Historic City of Ani (Kars)
-Historic Town of Birgi (Izmir)
-Historical Monuments of Nigde
-Mamure Castle (Mersin)
-Mausoleum and Sacred area of Hecatomnus (Mugla)
-Medieval City of Becin (Mugla)
-Odunpazari Historical Urban Site (Eskisehir)

-Alanya (Antalya)
-Ancient Cities of Lycian Civilization (Antalya and Mugla)
-Archaeological Site of Aphrodisias (Aydin)

-Bursa and Cumalikizik Early Ottoman urban and rural settlements (Bursa)

-Gulluk Dagi-Termessos National Park (Antalya)
-Harran and Sanliurfa (Sanliurfa)
-Hatay, St. Pierre Church (Hatay)
-Ishak Pasha Palace (Agri)

-Konya-A capital of Seljuk Civilization (Konya)

-St. Nicholas Church (Antalya)
-St.Paul Church, St.Paul's Well and surrounding historic quarters (Mersin)
-Sumela Monastery (The Monastery of Virgin Mary)
-The Archaeological Site of Gobeklitepe (Sanliurfa)
-The Citadel and the Walls of Diyarbakir (Diyarbakir)
-The Tombstones of Ahlat the Urartian and Ottoman citadel (Bitlis)
Turkey's ten sites are added to UNESCO World Heritage List. They are "Historical Areas of Istanbul, City of Safranbolu (Karabuk), Hattusha: The Hittite Capital (Corum), Mount Nemrut (Adiyaman), Xanthos-Letoon (Antalya-Mugla), Great Mosque and Hospital of Divrigi (Sivas), Archeological Site of Troy (Canakkale), Selimiye Mosque and Its Social Complex (Edirne), Hierapolis-Pamukkale (Denizli), Goreme National Park and Rock Sites of Cappadocia (Nevsehir).
