Turkey nabs 2 FETO terror suspects fleeing to Greece

EDIRNE, Turkey

Two suspected members of the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO) were arrested in northwestern Turkey while trying to escape to Greece, a security source said on Monday.

The suspects, identified only by the initials S.A. and E.K., were nabbed in the Meric district of Edirne province, said the source on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on speaking to the media.

The suspects were sought by warrant for being members of the FETO terror group.

FETO and its US-based leader Fetullah Gulen orchestrated the defeated coup of July 15, 2016, which left 251 people martyred and 2,734 injured.

Ankara accuses FETO of being behind a long-running campaign to overthrow the state through the infiltration of Turkish institutions, particularly the military, police, and judiciary.
