Turkey: Police officer martyred in PKK terror attack
2 others wounded during security operation in southeastern Turkey
SANLIURFA, Turkey
A deputy police chief was martyred in a PKK terror attack on Saturday in southeastern Turkey, officials said.
Two other police officers were wounded in Sanliurfa province where the Turkish army was carrying out a security operation, the local governorship said.
Two PKK terrorists were neutralized in the operation.
Turkish authorities often use the word "neutralize" in their statements to imply that the terrorists in question either surrendered or were killed or captured.
The wounded soldiers are receiving treatment at a local hospital.
In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU -- has been responsible for the death of some 40,000 people, including women and children.
