ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Ali Babacan on Thursday said that in the past 10 years, they got experienced in self-transformation.
Speaking at the Eighth Turkish-Arab Economy Forum in Istanbul, Ali Babacan stressed that they proved in the last 10 years that Islam and democracy could co-exist and that they could be implemented better.
"Turkish-Arab Economy Forum this year carries a special importance in 2013. Ukraine carries the title of a specially invited guest at the forum. I believe that the forum to be held in Ukraine in October will be very successful," Babacan stated.
"Many countries are going through a transitional period," Babacan said.
"Such countries need support, friendship and solidarity. As such, when we look at countries like Tunisia, Egypt and Yemen, we see that they are in need of both financial and technical support," Babacan noted.
"Economic reforms are just as important as political transformation," Babacan said.
"We must render our borders as meaningless. Making the borders more solid will not be beneficial for our economies and political stability," Babacan stressed.
Touching on Syria, Babacan said that the Assad regime would sooner or later go away.
"The continuation of the Syrian regime seems to be not possible," Babacan also said.
