Around 41.4 million passengers traveled with the Turkish Airlines between January and September 2014, which was a 14.3 percent increase for the same period last year, official company figures revealed Monday.
Moreover, the increase in the number of passengers the airline carried in domestic flights was 14.9 percent and 14 percent for international lines for the same period.
The new company figures, which were released on the Public Disclosure Platform website, said the “international business/comfort class” category of passengers also increased by 15.6 percent for the same period, while the “international-to-international transfer” passengers increased by 22.5 percent.
The Available Seat Kilometers, which captures the total flight passenger capacity of an airline in kilometers, also increased by 17.4 percent during January and September 2014. This figure is obtained by multiplying the total seats available for passengers and the total number of kilometers those seats were flown. The increase in this capacity for domestic and international lines was 16.8 percent and 17.5 percent, respectively.
Also, the new data said Turkish Airlines traveled to 260 destinations by September 2014, which was an increase from 239 in September 2013. The number of domestic destinations also increased from 42 to 43, while international destinations rose to 217 from 197.
