ANTALYA
Temel Kotil, director general of the Turkish Airlines, Turkey's flag carrier airlines company, said Saturday that the THY would be included in 2013 on the top ranking 5-Star air carrier companies list of Skytrax, a United Kingdom-based aviation research organisation.
The THY is currently ranked a 4-Star airline by Skytrax and the company was on the organization's ten best airlines list for 2012.
"We have been selected twice the best airlines in Europe and we were the top second company in 2012 in terms of passenger numbers. And this year we will become a 5-Star air carrier," Kotil told a meeting in the southern Turkish province of Antalya.
Kotil said THY's turnover in 2012 was $9 billion, adding that the company aimed to reach $40 billion within the next 10 to 15 years.
