ISTANBUL (AA) - August 23, 2012 - Turkish EU Minister and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis on Thursday said that Turkish citizens' confidence in the EU was dropping based on surveys conducted.
Speaking to journalists in Istanbul, Bagis said, "Turkish citizens' confidence over the EU negotiations and the membership process has been dropping based on surveys taken. The reality is that this is not related to Turkey's credibility, it is related to EU's credibility."
Bagis continued saying, "If things keep going in this way, in a few years the biggest question in Brussels will be "Who has lost Turkey?"."
Furthermore, Turkish minister touched onto Monday's deadly blast in Gaziantep which killed nine Turkish citizens and he expressed, "People who keep close relations with the terror organisations are also accountable for what has happened in Gaziantep and the lately rising terror incidents. These people should be aware of their guilts."
