ANKARA
Turkey’s Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc met with the US Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF), in Ankara on Thursday.
The USCIRF members published a report in 2011 about religious freedoms in Turkey. Arinc said the commission is considered to be very important, and that they are expecting them to prepare a positive report on Turkey.
Mary Ann Glendon, member of the USCIRF, said that Turkey is an important country for them.
Washington-based USCIRF is an independent, bipartisan commission of the US federal government. The commission describes itself as the first of its kind in the world, and dedicated to defending the universal rights to freedom of religion or belief abroad.
