Turkish firm to produce domestic missile engines
Kale to start mass production of engines this year
ISTANBUL
Turkish defense firm Kale will start mass production this year of engines for Turkey's domestically developed Atmaca and SOM missiles.
The research and development phase for the KTJ-3200 turbojet engine was completed and the mass production process started, Kale Vice chairman Osman Okyay told Anadolu Agency during the International Defense Industries Fair (IDEF).
Engine production is a difficult field, and Kale has been making efforts for 10 years to develop a unique engine, Okyay noted.
The firm has managed to produce an indigenous engine that has no foreign dependency and “which we will not experience any problems using or selling,” he underlined.
He stressed that the firm will deliver 13 engines this year.
Okyay also said the firm is continuing work on two more engines.
