Turkish fm targets to draw attention to Arakan

ANKARA (AA) - August 7, 2012 - Turkish Foreign Ministry spokesman Selcuk Unal has said that Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's wife Emine Erdogan targeted to draw attention to the humanitarian problem in Arakan region during their visit to Myanmar on Wednesday.

Replying to questions on Twitter on Tuesday, Unal said that so far Turkey had closely been following the developments in Myanmar where Muslims were being massacred.
Noting that Davutoglu discussed with OIC (Organization of the Islamic Cooperation) Secretary General Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu about what could be done regarding Myanmar issue, Unal said that Davutoglu also held talks with Bangladesh's foreign minister and sent a letter to foreign minister of Myanmar about the issue.
Unal recalled that Turkish Embassy to Myanmar had been opened on March 9, 2012, adding that Turkish ambassador had visited camps in Arakan with a group of diplomatic representatives.
Unal noted that Davutoglu and Emine Erdogan are set to visit Myanmar on Wednesday.
