ANKARA
Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu will visit Brazil between Dec. 31 and Jan. 3 to attend Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff's inauguration ceremony, Turkish Foreign Ministry announced Friday.
Rousseff was re-elected president with 51.5 percent votes on Oct. 27 in one of the tightest Brazilian presidential elections in the country's history, beating her rival Aecio Neves, who got 48.5 percent votes.
Rousseff's second term is the maximum permissible under Brazilian law.
"Cavusoglu will also hold a bilateral meeting with Brazil's Foreign Minister Luiz Alberto Figueiredo on the margins of the visit," the foreign ministry said in a statement.
Figueiredo attended the inauguration ceremony of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Aug. 28.
