Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc has given details on the implementation of solution process which will be most visible with the retreat of PKK's armed elements.
"Certainly, National Intelligence Agency of Turkey (MİT) will oversee it, security forces will take part in it too. No doubt, members of the Turkish armed forces will have a role in the retreat if they were assigned with such a duty during this process however this is the duty of the government" referring to the withdrawal of PKK the terrorist organization.
Bulent Arinc replied questions regarding the national news agenda on a live programme of Turkey's state-run television and radio network, TRT.
In the topic of withdrawal of terrorists from Turkey, he said, "One side says there should be a legislation. No, there won't be legislation, because this is not the duty of the parliament. I will state simply that when they infiltrated the country, did they find any legal basis and infiltrated upon that? And, is that why they ask for a legal basis when they retreat? No. Secondly, hope, they will not be angry with me but some people persistently say, "a legislation should form a basis for us" and that would mean indirectly: 'Make us a political actor. If this organization were to be addressed in a law and become a political actor in that act, that would bring a legitimacy.' This is what lies behind that persistence."
Arinc also emphasized, on this subject, the government must be in charge, not the parliament.
Referring to the period of retreat of PKK terrorists, Arinc added, "Certainly, MİT will oversee it, security forces will take part in it too. No doubt, members of the Turkish armed forces will have a role in the retreat if they were assigned with a such duty during this process however this does not have a basis in the parliament and shall not."
