Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan will make the opening speech of EU Istanbul Conference organized by Turkish Ministry of EU Affairs on June 7.
The conference will bring together many leaders, European Parliament members, politicians, and academicians on June 7-8 in Istanbul.
Hosted by Turkish Minister of EU Affairs and the Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis, the conference themed "A shared future for Turkey and EU in the presence of global problems" will be the most comprehensive one in the field.
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan will make the opening speech of the conference, in which his Slovakian counterpart Robert Fico, British former foreign minister Jack Straw, EU Commissioner for enlargement Stefan Fule, and many representatives from business and media worlds will attend.
Within the scope of the conference, panel discussions titled "Global Economic Crisis and Challenges for the EU”, "Reconciling Democracy and Security in the Age of Globalization", "Rethinking European Integration", "How the Changes in Global Governance Shape Turkey-EU Relations" will take place.
34 high level bureaucrats from all member, candidate and potential candidate countries, as well as EU Commission and European Council eurocrats were invited in the interactive conference.
1,200 people are expected to attend the two-day long conference.
The conference aims to put forward the global challenges and opportunities that the EU and Turkey have faced in the most recent period, the importance of EU-Turkey relations in ensuring global peace and welfare, as well as showing that Turkey’s membership to the EU is based on a “win-win” relationship.
