ANKARA (AA) - August 15, 2012 - Turkish aid organization Turk Kizilayi (Red Crescent) has begun distributing relief equipment to victims of a devastating earthquake that recently hit Iran.
Red Crescent Headquarters stated on Wednesday that after the earthquake measuring 6.2 on Richter's scale hit Ahar town of Tabriz city, Red Crescent sent two trucks of relief equipment to the region.
Teams, who reached Tabriz after passing Gurbulak border gate, were welcomed by Iranian officials.
Red Crescent, then, began to distribute the equipment comprised of food, water, blankets and kitchen sets to quake victims.
Red Crescent has become the first international relief organization that reached the region.
306 people were killed and around 2,500 others were wounded in the earthquake.
