ANKARA
Turkey's President Abdullah Gul stated that both Turkish people and state supported Izmir which was suitable to host EXPO with its rooted history, multi-cultural traditions and tourism potential.
Turkish presidency's website stated that, Gul received the International Bureau of Exhibitions delegation on Thursday.
During the meeting, Gul said that it was important for the inspection delegation to get informed about the EXPO candidacy of Izmir from the first hand.
BIE President Steen Christensen thanked Gul and informed him about the works they held in Izmir.
Turkish Minister of Transport also said they will help Izmir to host the EXPO 2020
Turkish Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications, Binali Yildirim also said that "after losing the chance to host the EXPO 2015, we will help Izmir to host the EXPO 2020."
Minister Yildirim attended a dinner hosted by the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) in honor of a delegation from the International Bureau of Exhibitions at the TOBB Twin Towers in Ankara.
Speaking at the dinner, Yildirim stressed that he saw the determination of everyone to help Izmir host the EXPO 2020.
I know by heart that we will succeed this time, Yildirim stated.
Also speaking at the dinner, Chairman of TOBB, Rifat Hisarciklioglu underlined that "with EXPO 2020, Izmir's sun would carry health and energy to the whole world."
