A tour bus carrying students crashed and overturned in northwestern Türkiye, killing at least three people, including two children, and injuring 44 others, an official said early Monday.

The tour bus, which was en route to the Turkish capital Ankara from the northwestern province of Canakkale, slammed into a barrier in Inegol district of Bursa province and overturned.

Speaking to Anadolu, Bursa Governor Yakup Canpolat said the bus was carrying secondary school children and was part of a six-bus convoy returning from a trip in Canakkale.

Canpolat said there were a total of 47 passengers in the bus, including three teachers.
