Turkish prefabricated construction company Karmod warned consumers against fake social media campaigns that claim to offer prefabricated homes in a lottery.

In a statement on Wednesday, the company pointed to recent fraudulent activities on social media platforms such as Facebook, and urged consumers not to trust these deceptive campaigns which are creating fake accounts under the Karmod brand name.

The company explained that these scammers falsely claim to be offering Karmod prefabricated homes through a lottery. The company emphasized that these campaigns have no affiliation with Karmod.

Abdullah Yuceer, general manager of Karmod, noted the increasing frequency of such fraudulent schemes targeting the prefabricated housing market.

"We are saddened to witness the misuse of our brand name in scams on social media. These fake accounts, which have no connection to Karmod, are luring people with false promises like 'Win a Karmod prefabricated home through a lottery,' and asking for money to participate," Yuceer said, adding that Karmod does not conduct any lottery-based promotions.

Yuceer also highlighted another scam in the industry, involving promises of "cheap container homes."

He explained that scammers are using Karmod’s name to create fake social media accounts, where they claim to sell container homes at extremely low prices.

"One of the most common tactics we have seen is the 'cheap container home' offer, where scammers claim to sell a container home for 40,000 lira, requesting an initial payment of 20,000 lira to a specific IBAN, with the remainder to be paid on delivery.

“We urge consumers not to fall for these scams. Reputable companies do not request payments to personal accounts, and we advise the public to be cautious of such demands," Yuceer said.

He said customers can safely reach the company through its official website or visit its sales offices to make secure purchases in person.
