Turkish defense firm Nurol Teknoloji has secured an export opportunity to the United States with its advanced technical ballistic ceramics and armor products.

Nurol Teknoloji’s defense offerings were on display at the International Defense Exhibition and Conference (IDEX) 2025 in Abu Dhabi last month.

Serpil Gonenc Dincer, deputy general manager at Nurol Teknoloji, told Anadolu that the company opened its US office about two and a half years ago.

Dincer said the firm has consolidated its armor and ceramic products under two brands to increase their visibility in the US market.

She noted that in addition to the testing phase, the certification processes for the firm’s products have been an arduous journey.

“As a result, 12 US firms licensed these products—companies that can supply to the US military,” she said.

Dincer mentioned that Nurol Teknoloji has also entered the US market with ceramic powder used in the production of protective plates, as the defense firm has become one of the rare producers of boron carbide ceramic, which is a bulletproof compound.

She added that the firm’s powders have been used by law enforcement, as well as the army, and they have established significant partnerships in the US.

Dincer said Nurol Teknoloji made an important move in advanced technical ceramics by acquiring a majority stake in the German ceramic raw material producer Industriekeramik Hochrhein GmbH.

“IKH produces and develops advanced technical ceramic powders, and their products are used in aviation, medical, chip, electronics, and space efforts,” she said.

She highlighted that Nurol Teknoloji has developed hybrid ceramics made out of 40% boron and 60% silicon in addition to the 100% boron carbide solutions.

“Our 100% boron carbide and direct sintering process does not exist anywhere else in the world,” she said.

“Lightweight, multi-shot, and high-threat-resistant solutions will emerge (from these materials), as our products are expected to be released within a year,” Dincer added.
