At least 14 people were killed late Monday in clashes between Shiite Houthi militants and armed tribesmen in Yemen's northern Amran province, according to a tribal source.
"Fierce clashes erupted late Monday and continued through the night in Khewan, leaving 12 Houthis and two tribesmen dead and four injured," the source told Anadolu Agency on Tuesday.
A mediation committee has managed to end the clashes after entering the violence-wracked area, he added.
Recent weeks have seen violent clashes between Houthi militants and northern Yemen's tribesmen, with the latter accusing the former of seeking to establish control over their territories.
The Houthis continue to fight pitched battles with both tribesmen and Salafists in several parts of the country.
