At least 25 people are believed to have died and many others injured in two explosions in a market in the northeastern Nigerian state of Gombe, according to residents.
"We counted 25 bodies before security agents cordoned off the scenes of the explosions, which happened just about five minutes apart. It occurred in a central market at around 6.00 p.m. (1700GMT)," Mohammed Bello, a resident of Gombe town, told Anadolu Agency by phone.
Adamu Ibrahim, a hospital attendant, confirmed the blasts and said: "We have received 15 bodies because we couldn't take more while some bodies were also evacuated to other morgues in the town."
Neither the country’s relief agency nor the army have reacted to the latest explosions but locals say it bore the imprimatur of the Boko Haram militant group - now known as the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP).
