BEIRUT
Two rockets were fired from southern Lebanon into northern Israel on Monday, a Lebanese security source said.
Unknown people fired two rockets from the city of Tyre, triggering Israeli retaliatory artillery, the source told Anadolu Agency.
The Israeli army confirmed that rocket struck the northern city of Nahariya from Lebanon on Monday.
"A few minutes ago, a rocket fired from Lebanon struck near the northern Israeli city of Nahariya," the army said on Twitter.
No details are yet available about casualties.
Late Sunday, unknown elements fired two rockets from southern Lebanon into Israel, prompting retaliatory artillery fire from Israel on Lebanese border towns.
One day earlier, three rockets had been fired at Israel from the same area.
The attacks come amid rising tension in the region over a week-long Israeli onslaught on the Gaza Strip, which left at least 186 Palestinians dead.
At least 1385 Palestinians have been injured in the ongoing Israeli attacks, which began last Monday.
Since last Monday, Israeli warplanes have struck hundreds of targets across the besieged coastal enclave, which is home to around 1.8 million Palestinians.
Israeli ground troops, meanwhile, remain amassed on the strip's borders in advance of a possible ground assault.
Gaza-based resistance factions, for their part, have continued to fire rockets into Israel – some of which have reached Tel Aviv – in response to the ongoing offensive.
No Israeli fatalities have been reported thus far as a result of the rocket fire from Gaza.
