At least 60 people were killed on Friday when a group of Chadian ranchers attacked a border village in the Central African Republic (CAR).
"We came under heavy fire from Komba village in Chad," a resident of CAR's Markounda village told Anadolu Agency. "The assailants raided our village and began shooting people."
He went on to allege that the attackers had forced local residents to leave the besieged hamlet.
Eyewitnesses believe Friday's attack came in response to an attack last week in which eight Chadian ranchers were killed and their livestock stolen.
The Chadian government, meanwhile, has denied the attack occurred, stressing the difficulties associated with crossing the border between the two countries.
The Central African authorities, for their part, have yet to comment on the claims.
