Opposition activists said forces loyal to the Assad regime killed 57 people in various cities of Syria on Sunday.
Syrian Human Rights Organization, a London-based group that tracks civilian and dissident casualties, said regime forces killed 15 in Homs, 11 in Idlib, 9 in capital Damascus and Daraa each, 6 in Hamah, 5 in Aleppo, and 2 in Kuneytra.
Syrian National Coalition reported heavy fighting between the Free Syrian Army and the regime forces mainly near capital Damascus.
Syrian official news agency SANA said government forces had made major gains against opposition fighters in operations across the country adding that rebels' weapons and vehicles were destroyed.
