The seventh local election in Albania will kick off on Sunday to elect mayors and municipal council members.
After a month of campaigning, nearly 3.3 million citizens will vote for 61 new mayors, according to the official data from the central election commission of Albania.
A total of 157 mayoral candidates, including those from sixty-three parties as well as independents, will compete in the electoral race. Municipal councilors will also be elected.
Albanian citizens will be heading to the polls between 07.00 and 19.00 local time to cast their votes.
The voting process will be monitored by representatives of international organizations, and nearly 6,000 police officers will be on duty.
