At least 60 people were killed in shootings and explosions in central Paris late Friday, French police said.
A drive-by shooting left at least 11 people dead at the Petit Cambodge restaurant in the 11th district and a separate shooting targeted another restaurant in rue de Charonne.
At least 16 people were also killed at the Bataclan arts centre. Local reports say as many as 100 people have been taken hostage at the centre.
Three explosions are also reported outside a bar near the Stade de France, where France were hosting Germany in a friendly. French President Francois Hollande was watching the game and he was evacuated.
Hollande said on a TV address that a state of emergency has been declared across the country and all borders will be closed.
An urgent cabinet meeting has been called to evaulate the situation, local media reports.
Police are currently asking people to leave the streets where hundreds of security personnel are looking for attackers.
