Authorities investigating origin of large object that fell from sky in western Poland
Officials believe it is part of Elon Musk’s Space X Starlink Group 11-4 mission

WARSAW
Polish authorities are investigating the origin of a large object that fell from the sky early Wednesday in the western Polish city of Poznan, the Polish Space Agency (POLSA) said Wednesday.
Defense Minister Wladysław Kosiniak-Kamysz told radio RMF FM that it was “not something that threatens state security.”
“Between 04:46 and 04:48 an uncontrolled entry into the atmosphere of a FALCON 9 R/B launch vehicle stage occurred over the territory of Poland. The rocket stage, weighing approximately four tons, came from the Space X Starlink Group 11-4 mission, which took off from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California on 1 February 2025,” POLSA wrote on X.
“Unusual flashes” were seen in the sky in western Poland, according to media reports.
A police spokesperson in Poznan told the Polish Press Agency that at 9.20 local time (0820GMT) police were notified that an unidentified object had been found on the site of a company in Komorniki, a part of Greater Poznan, adding that no one was injured by the object.
The director of the company, Adam Borucki, said it was about 1.5 meters (5 feet) long and looked like a “tank wrapped in foil with a piece of pipe sticking out.”
