BEIJING
China is shutting down 300 factories within 2014 in Beijing alone to tackle the city's air pollution problem.
Beijing Municipality has prepared a master plan for 2013-2017 and announced that projects that add to the city's pollution will no longer be approved in the region.
The names of the projects to be denied or suspended will be made public by the local government by the end of April.
In Beijing, 200 factories will be inspected for clean production standards and at least 50 such projects will be encouraged in the city.
