DAMIETTA (AA) - 18 people were injured in clashes between ousted President Mohamed Morsi loyalists and his opponents in Egypt's Damietta, said medical sources.
Clashes broke out between a group of protesters carrying Morsi posters and his opponents nearby the Nile River, both sides hurling stones at each other and attacking with clubs.
Morsi supporters have been organizing demonstrations and sit-ins nationwide to defend his democratic legitimacy and demand his reinstatement since Morsi, Egypt's first democratically elected president, was ousted by the army on July 3.
Meanwhile, Chairman Alaa Samaha and Deputy Chairman Tarek Helmy of Principal Bank for Development and Agricultural Credit (PBDAC), the biggest bank in Egypt in terms of its branches and personnel, announced their resignations, said officials from the bank.
Samaha and Helmy had reportedly sent a request to the government to help overcome the current crisis it is facing and secure investors' money but the government disregarded their request and the PBDAC could not get the government's support as the PBDAC has failed to attain his dues which near EGP 3 billion.
Samaha and Helmy have chaired the PBDAC for 3 months.
