MELBOURNE, Australia
Cyclone Dylan made landfall on Australia's Queensland state early Friday morning, causing tides to exceed 6.5 meters above sea level in some coastal areas.
Fields were flooded and roadways closed due to rainfall and rising sea levels in regions of Bowen, Airlie Beach and Mackay, with Townsville being the worst hit.
With winds reaching up to 130 kilometers per hour, water travelled up to 30 meters inland.
However, rainfall was not as severe as originally feared.
Queensland State Premier Campbell Newman called on the region's people to support one another against any hazards that may occur.
