BAGHDAD
At least 20 people were killed and 28 others injured in two explosions in Baghdad on Wednesday that struck the headquarters of the Foreign Ministry and the neighborhood of Karadat Mariam, a senior security official said.
"The latest Health Ministry report stated that 20 people were killed and 28 injured in two terrorist attacks," Saad Maan, head of the Baghdad Operations Authority, said in a Wednesday statement.
According to Maan, two militants wearing explosive-laden belts blew themselves up separately in central Iraq – one outside Iraq's Foreign Ministry and the other in the Karadat Mariam district.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the twin attacks.
Although most such attacks go unclaimed, Iraqi authorities usually point the finger at Al-Qaeda-linked militants amid a recent upsurge of violence across Iraq.
