Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad as-Sani, one of richest men in the world, bought six Greek islands.

Emir as-Sani paid 8.5 million Euro for Oksia island and five small islets in Ionian Sea.
The Mayor of Ithaca island, Yannis Kassianos, confirmed that the Emir of Qatar paid 4.9 million Euro for Oksia island and 3.5 million Euro for the five small islets. The islands were not state-owned but private, said Kassianos. He added the islands were governed by the state.
The island has water shortage but the Emir of Qatar will bring water to the island from Astakos City, said Kassianos. "We are very pleased and we will honor the Emir by enrolling him in the register of the island's residents."
Greek islands had been put up for sale due to financial crisis in Greece.
