PARIS
French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius on Monday announced that French troops in Malian city of Timbuktu would soon be withdrawn.
Speaking to the France inter radio station, Fabius underlined that France had the intention of leaving Malian cities currently under the control of both French troops and Malian army to the African international force.
Fabius did not provide any details on a possible land operation in Mali's north against the rebels.
