ISTANBUL
Technical negotiations between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will kick off Wednesday in the Austrian capital of Vienna after United Nations (UN) inspectors inspect Iran's Arak reactor plant, Iranian atomic energy agency spokesperson Behrouz Kamalvandi said on Monday.
“In accordance with the deal reached between Iran and the IAEA, two inspectors visited the Arak heavy-water plant and they are on their way back to Vienna, and negotiations will begin on Wednesday,” Iran’s IRNA news agency quoted Kamalvandi as saying.
Technical issues will be discussed by experts from both sides and meetings will continue on Thursday if needed.
In accordance with the agreement signed by Iran and IAEA under the leadership of IAEA President Yukio Amano, Iran accepted the inspection of the Arak heavy-water plant reactors by IAEA inspectors.
The inspection is part of a deal between the IAEA and Tehran, separate from the November 24 interim nuclear accord reached between Iran and the P5+1 countries, UN Security Council permanent members plus Germany, in Geneva.
