BAGHDAD
At least 18 people were killed and 59 others were injured in several blasts in the Iraqi capital OF Baghdad and Diyala province Tuesday, security officials said.
Nine civilians were killed and 30 others were injured when a car bomb exploded in the eastern part of Baghdad, police said.
Two civilians were killed and 10 others were wounded when a car bomb went off in a populated street in the al-Mahmudiyah district in southern Baghdad, a police lieutenant, who preferred not to divulge his name, told The Anadolu Agency.
Another car bomb killed three civilians and wounded eight others near al-Yarmouk hospital in southern Baghdad, police said.
A civilian was killed and four others were wounded when an improvised explosive device detonated near a marketplace in the Sabaa al-Bour area in southern Baghdad, police added.
Separately, an attack on a military vehicle in Diyala province killed two people, including one soldier, and wounded five others.
In Diyala’s central Baqubah, one person was killed and two were left wounded in an attack on a gas station.
Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi had lifted Baghdad’s eight-year curfew on Feb. 7, citing "improved security conditions."
Battle against Daesh
Meanwhile, Iraqi security forces captured two areas from Daesh in the city of al-Karma in Anbar province and killed 77 suspected Daesh militants, Jumaa Fazaa, a commander from al-Hashid al-Shaabi Shiite militia, told The Anadolu Agency.
Iraqi security forces also defused more than 57 Improvised Explosive Devices, Fazaa added.
On Monday, Iraqi security forces had killed 60 Daesh militants in Albu Farraj area in the north of Ramadi, the capital of Anbar province, Brigadier Abdel Amir al-Khazraji from the Iraqi army told AA.
