BAGHDAD
At least 72 people were killed and 24 others were injured in two separate incidents of violence in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad Friday, police sources told Anadolu Agency.
In the first incident, at least six people were killed and 22 others were injured in a car bomb attack in southwestern Baghdad’s Hayy Al-A'amel region, the sources said.
In the second incident, at least 17 Iraqi soldiers and 47 Daesh militants were killed in ongoing clashes in eastern Baghdad’s Zaferanieh district, the sources added.
Clashes have frequently erupted between Iraqi forces and Daesh militants since June last year, when the armed group seized the northern Mosul province and other Iraqi territories.
