ANBAR, Iraq
Daesh has seized control of an Iraqi government complex in central Ramadi, the capital of Anbar province, a police source has claimed.
The source, who preferred not to divulge his name to Anadolu Agency, said that Daesh seized control of the government complex which contains Anbar province’s police directory and other administrative governmental buildings on Friday.
Iraqi security forces withdrew from the buildings after fierce clashes; the militants later raised Daesh's flag on the government complex, the source said.
In an earlier statement, Salim al-Jabouri – speaker of the Iraqi parliament – warned on Friday of a “possible close collapse” of Anbar province’s security situation.
Daesh has also managed to seize the eastern part of Fallujah in Anbar province after fierce clashes with security forces.
Daesh killed 200 security personnel and captured 59 others, an army source told Anadolu Agency on condition of anonymity.
