- 179 passengers killed, 2 survive in South Korean plane crash
South Korean authorities declared 179 passengers and crew dead, with only two survivors, after a plane crashed at Muan International Airport.
Earlier, officials of the Jeolla Fire Department, while briefing passengers' families at the airport, said that "out of the 181 passengers, most are presumed dead except for the two crew members, who were rescued," Yonhap News Agency reported.
- Israeli attacks kill 30 Gazans as death toll tops 45,500
At least 30 Palestinians were killed in Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip, bringing the overall death toll since last year to 45,514, said the Health Ministry in the enclave.
The statement added that some 108,189 others were injured in the ongoing assault.
- Azerbaijan President Aliyev asks Russia to pay compensation for downing passenger plane
Azerbaijan demanded that Russia admit guilt for downing its passenger plane, punish those responsible and pay compensation.
Speaking to reporters in Baku, President Ilham Aliyev confirmed that the Azerbaijan Airlines plane, which crashed near the Kazakh city of Aktau, was heavily damaged by ground fire and nearly lost control due to radio-electronic warfare.
