ISTANBUL

Here’s a rundown of all the news you need to start your Sunday, including Tehran saying Israeli fighter jets used US-controlled airspace over Iraq to attack Iran as death toll rises to 4; 124 civilians killed in a Rapid Support Forces attack on the Sudanese state of Gezira and the US urging an end to Israel and Iran retaliatory strikes.

The Iranian armed forces announced an increase in the death toll from two to four soldiers in an Israeli overnight airstrike, adding that Israeli fighter jets used US-controlled airspace over Iraq to launch long-range missiles at military sites.

Iran's General Staff of the Armed Forces noted that several long-range missiles with lightweight warheads were fired from about 100 kilometers (62 miles) outside Iran's borders.

The missiles were aimed at radar systems in the border provinces of Ilam and Khuzestan, as well as around the Iranian capital of Tehran


-124 civilians killed in Rapid Support Forces attack on Sudanese state of Gezira

At least 124 people were killed in attacks by paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on the village of Alseriha in Gezira state of central Sudan, according to the Sudan Doctors Network.

“A force affiliated with the RSF committed a massacre against civilians in the village of Alseriha, resulting in the death of 124 people from the area following an armed attack that lasted for hours, while dozens were injured and hundreds were displaced from the village,” the NGO said in a statement.

The Network condemned the attack on Alseriha and villages in the east and west of Gezira as an “irrational escalation against civilians who have chosen to remain for over a year in difficult and tragic humanitarian conditions."


-US urges end to Israel, Iran retaliatory strikes

The US urged an end to retaliatory strikes between Tehran and Tel Aviv, according to a senior American official.

The official said the US is "fully prepared" to defend Israel if Iran responds to Israeli attacks against Iranian military facilities.

“This should be the end of this direct exchange of fire between Israel and Iran," the official told reporters. "Should Iran choose to respond, we're fully prepared to defend Israel and support Israel, and there will be consequences."

Hezbollah issued orders for the immediate evacuation of 25 settlements in northern Israel, warning residents that those areas are now “legitimate military targets.”

Namibia will hold presidential and parliamentary elections Nov. 27, the president announced.

The death toll from Typhoon Trami, also locally known as Tropical Storm Kristine, has climbed to 81 as thousands of people have been affected across the country, local media said.

Manchester City edges Southampton with early Haaland goal

Manchester City clinched a narrow 1-0 victory against Southampton in week nine of the English Premier League, with Erling Haaland’s early goal proving decisive.

Haaland scored in the fifth minute at Etihad Stadium, capitalizing on a perfectly timed assist from Matheus Luiz Nunes. The early strike held up through the match, securing City the three points.
