Here’s a rundown of all the news you need to start your Monday with, including Israel killing more than 1,000 Palestinians during its three-week-long military offensives in northern Gaza, an Israeli airstrike on a UN-run school in Gaza City killing at least five people, and Republican nominee and former US President Donald Trump claiming that the "incompetence" of his rival, Democratic candidate and Vice President Kamala Harris, will "get us into World War 3.”

TOP STORIES

The Israeli army has killed more than 1,000 Palestinians in northern Gaza, forced half of the population to flee from bombardments, and left the other half trapped without water or food for nearly three weeks, the Palestinian Civil Defense announced.

Mahmoud Bassal, a spokesman for the Palestinian Civil Defense, said in a video shared on social media that the Israeli army has killed over 1,000 Palestinians during its three-week-long military offensives in northern Gaza, which are still ongoing.

“More than 100,000 Palestinians in the areas of Jabalia, Beit Hanoun and Beit Lahia are suffering from an Israeli siege and bombardment, while the other half of the population, which numbered around 200,000, has been forcibly displaced towards Gaza City, the closest governorate to the north,” Bassal told Anadolu.

The death toll from the Israeli airstrike on a UN-run school sheltering displaced civilians west of Gaza City on Sunday has reached 11, a medical source said.

Twenty other people were injured in the attack that targeted Asma School, run by the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) in the Shati refugee camp, the source added.

The attack was the second to have targeted the same school within days.

Republican presidential candidate and former President Donald Trump warned that his Democratic rival and Vice President Kamala Harris could get the US into a hot war if she wins the Nov. 5 election, saying: “She would get us into a World War 3 guaranteed because she is too grossly incompetent to do the job.”

Speaking at a rally Saturday in Pennsylvania, Trump argued that Harris would be incapable of “dealing with” leaders such as Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping, according to US media reports.

Noting that the world has “never been so close” to a global war, Trump promised to avoid such a war if he becomes president.
