ISTANBUL 

Here is a rundown of all the news you need to start your Monday with, including Lebanon saying around 1 million people have been displaced due to Israeli attacks, 70 people being killed in an intense Israeli bombardment of Lebanon on Sunday, and the Kremlin saying that an updated version of Russia’s nuclear doctrine will be formalized.

Lebanon’s caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati said that around one million people have been displaced due to Israeli attacks.

"Lebanon is experiencing the largest wave of displacement in its history,” he told a press conference following a meeting of the government’s emergency committee in Beirut.

“Our priority is to stop the ongoing Israeli aggression through continued diplomatic efforts. We have no other choice,” he noted.


  • 70 killed in intense Israeli bombardment of Lebanon on Sunday

At least 70 people were killed and 80 others injured in Israeli air attacks Sunday on various areas of Lebanon, according to an Anadolu tally confirmed through official sources, including state media and the Health Ministry.

Israeli airstrikes on Baalbek-Hermel province resulted in an initial toll of 21 deaths and 47 injured.

In Sidon, 24 people were killed and 29 injured in an Israeli airstrike targeting a residential building in the village of Ain El-Delb.


The Kremlin said an updated version of Russia’s nuclear doctrine has been prepared and will be formalized.

“The adjustments have been prepared. Now it will be formalized. The main principles, the main approaches have been outlined,” spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in an interview with journalist Pavel Zarubin, a part of which was shared on his Telegram channel.

Peskov said new international developments have “made it necessary” to make adjustments to the country’s nuclear doctrine.
