CAIRO
Supporters of ousted president Mohamed Morsi staged morning rallies on Friday to call for ending what they describe as the "military rule" in Egypt.
Pro-democracy supporters marched in the plush district of Mohandiseen, west of Cairo, amid anti-military slogans.
The flag-waving protesters carried photos of Morsi and demonstrators killed in clashes with security forces in recent months.
They also flashed the four-fingered Rabaa sign in memory of hundreds of pro-Morsi demonstrators killed when their protest camp was violently cleared in mid-August.
Supporters of the ousted president also staged rallies in the Nile Delta provinces of Kafr al-Sheikh and Sharqiya.
Friday's rallies are part of a fresh week of protests called for by the pro-Morsi National Alliance for the Defense of Legitimacy.
Morsi, Egypt's first freely elected president, was ousted by the military last July following mass protests against his rule.
Ever since his overthrow, Morsi's supporters have staged almost daily rallies in different parts of the country against what they describe as the "unconstitutional military coup" against the Islamist leader.
