SARAJEVO (AA) - Bosnian musicians organized Tuesday a concert in front of the parliament to support the protests against government's failure to give newborn babies a personal identity number.
Bosnia's famous groups and singers like "Skroz", "Letu Stuke", "Dubioza Kolektiv", "Grof Curaz", "Frenkie" and "Zoster" took to the stage for audience of more than a thousand, including European Union's High Commissioner of Bosnia&Herzegovina Valentin Inzko.
Babies born since last February have no personal identity numbers as the parliament had failed to pass a new law, leaving the newborns
without health and travel documents.
The protests started two weeks ago in the Bosnian capital of Sarajevo following media reports that three-month-old Berina Hamidovic who needed a urgent medical attention abroad could not travel because she had no travel documents. In a tragic turn of events, Hamidovic died in a hospital in Serbia after undergoing an initial surgery in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
In the initial demonstration, activists blocked the entrances and exits of the parliament, trapping 700 people, including 150 foreigners, who eventually left the building later on.
