CHICAGO
President Barack Obama's electoral votes increased to 303 in the U.S. presidential election on Wednesday.
Obama won in Virginia, Colorado, Iowa, Ohio, Nevada, California, Hawaii, Washington, New Mexico, Minnesota, New Hampshire, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Michigan, New York, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Vermont states, while the Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney won in North Carolina, South Carolina, Idaho, Arizona, Missouri, Montana, Utah, Kansas, Texas, Louisiana, Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oregon, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Indiana, Georgia, Kentucky, West Virginia and Tennessee making the number of electoral votes 206.
Each candidates has 49 percent of the votes.
In order to be elected as the U.S. president, a candidate must have at least 270 of the electoral votes out of 538.
