Jordan's parliament on Wednesday gave the government of Prime Minister Abdallah Ensour until Tuesday to expel the Israeli ambassador from Amman and recall the Jordanian envoy from Israel.

The ultimatum comes over growing anger in Jordan following the killing of a Jordanian judge by Israeli border guards at a border crossing on Monday.

On Wednesday, the parliament said that maintaining confidence in Ensour's government relies on its ability to fulfill the demands by Tuesday.

Jordanian judge Raed Ala'eddin Zeiter was shot dead by Israeli soldiers on Monday near the King Hussein Bridge (Allenby Bridge) linking Jordan to the Israeli-occupied West Bank.

According to the Israeli media, Zeiter had attempted to grab the gun of an Israeli soldier manning the crossing, forcing the latter to shoot him.

During Wednesday's session, the parliament voted to conduct an investigation into the judge's murder by Israeli soldiers and bring perpetrators to the International Criminal Court.

The Jordanian lawmakers also sponsored a call for ushering in Jordanian-Palestinian control over border crossings with the Palestinian territories.

On Tuesday, Ensour told parliament that Israel had presented an official apology to his country for judge's killing following pressures from the Jordanian government.
