Protesters demand France TV restore program featuring Gaza genocide remarks

Pro-Palestinian demonstrators gathered outside French public broadcaster France TV's headquarters in Paris to protest the removal of a program replay from its website in which actress Adele Haenel spoke about Israel's actions in the Gaza Strip.

The demonstration, organized at the call of EuroPalestine, demanded that the replay of the France 5 program La Grande Librairie, featuring Haenel, be restored to the broadcaster's website.

Protesters accused France TV of "censorship," while one demonstrator read Haenel's remarks outside the headquarters.

Some carried signs quoting the actress who said, "The State of Israel is committing genocide in Palestine and France is complicit." Others read, "Silence kills," "We want the replay of Adele Haenel" and "Stop censorship."

Haenel made the remarks during the Sept. 9 broadcast, saying she had "made a decision" to speak out.

"The State of Israel is committing genocide in Palestine, and France is complicit. Don't accept the unacceptable; sanction Israel and liberate Palestine," she said.

The replay was later removed from France TV's website, drawing criticism from French politicians.

France 5 operates under the France Televisions public broadcasting group.
