JERUSALEM
Israeli army detained at least two people while moving away the tents which had been set up by Palestinians in Jerusalem in order to protest the Israeli settlement policy.
Abdullah Abu Rahme, one of the protestors, told AA that Israeli security forces, upon directives by Israeli prime minister, raided the tents last night and forced the protestors to leave their tents.
Nearly 500 Israeli soldiers raided the tents, and detained some of the protestors, he added.
Hundreds of Palestinians had been protesting the construction of new Israeli settlement units in the east of Jerusalem.
Protestors set up 30 tents in "E1" zone in the east of Jerusalem in order to protest illegal Jewish settlements in 3,000 residences to be built by Israel.
After Palestine gained non-member observer status in the UN, Israel, as a reaction, decided to build 3,000 illegal residences in East Jerusalem.
Netanyahu orders removal of tents of Palestinian protestors
