WASHINGTON (AA) - US President Barack Obama held phone calls with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas on Thursday over the leadership and courage in resuming final status negotiations between Israelis and Palestinians.
White House released a statement in regards to Obama's phone call with Netanyahu, where Obama underscored, "While the parties have much work to do in the days and months ahead, the US will support them fully in their efforts to achieve peace. The two leaders agreed to continue the close coordination between the United States and Israel on this and other regional issues."
Two leaders stated a common point of view over keeping close coordination between the US and Israel about the mentioned topic and in all other regional issues.
Furthermore, White House noted Obama's call with the Palestinian Authority President Abbas as ,"Obama commended him for his leadership and courage in resuming final status negotiations with Israel. The President reaffirmed that the United States stands ready to support the parties in achieving a just and lasting peace based on the two state solutions, and will continue to work closely with the Palestinian Authority to achieve this goal."
