Russia invited to G20 summit in US: Report

Russia has been invited to participate in the G20 summit in the US, which will be held in December, according to a report Wednesday.

"There is an invitation to participate at the highest level," Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Pankin told reporters, the Tass news agency reported.

He added that it remains unclear who will represent Russia at the gathering, noting that a decision is expected closer to the date of the event.

The summit is set to be held in Miami, Florida on Dec. 14-15.

The G20 summit is an annual gathering of leaders from developed and developing economies to discuss the world's most pressing challenges.
